Capture Serial Port Data

Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Units save data from serial print streams and replace ribbon and dot matrix printers. This enables electronic versions of your data to be created while eliminating hard-copy output. This method of data acquisition eliminates errors associated with manual re-entry and reduces cost by minimizing the ribbon and paper requirements of your company.

Ethernet Data Connectivity

Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Units connect to the Silent Hawk^® Control Console and transmit their capture data via an Ethernet connection. This allows the Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Unit to be flexible and provides you with a direct connection method (via crossover cable), a local connection method (via patch cable) or a remote connection method (via VPN configurations and the Internet).

Automatic Capture File Segmentation

With automatic capture file segmentation, Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Units seamlessly separate capture data into files based off of certain criteria. The use of script files provide users with a way to easily modify capture settings and affect changes to their capture data in real-time.

Default capture file segmentation options include:
Start of File (SOF): Segments data right before a user specified ASCII or Hex string.
SOF with Line Delimiter: Allows SOF segmentation to occur at a page boundary that is specified by the user.
End of File (EOF): Segments data just after receiving a user specified ASCII or Hex string.
Clock Time: Segments data at times specified by the user. Four different clock times may be specified.
Periodic: Segments data at a given interval. Users specify the interval in minutes and segmentation occurs each time an interval occurs.

Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Units capture data non-intrusively provided that the Data Source matches the serial settings of the Silent Hawk Serial Capture Unit. Most importantly, this ensures that your data is never lost.

Simple and Easy to Install

Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Units come complete with all the cables required for use with a serial data interface, a crossover cable and a patch cable. An AC/DC Power Adapter, a Quickstart Guide, and a Silent Hawk^® User Manual are supplied with each Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Unit as well. All that you need to use the Silent Hawk^® Serial Capture Unit is a PC that has Windows 98 or later, an Ethernet interface and the Silent Hawk^® Control Console Application.
